LA MAMOUNIA

From the moment you arrive, you will be captivated by the harmony of the surroundings, the opulence of the materials and the excellence of the craftsmanship revealed in each and every detail. Since its 1923 opening, it has been renowned as one of the world's finest, leading in high design, ultra-luxe interiors and best-in-class hospitality. The site dates back to the 18th century, when the son of Sultan Mohammed Ben Abdallah transformed its fragrant grounds – a visual cacophony of wild olive and orange trees, cacti, palms and bougainvillea – into a venue for lavish garden parties.

La Mamounia is a resort for legends. Winston Churchill declared Marrakech the most beautiful place in the world from his room at La Mamounia. Spending his winters here, from his third-floor suite – now the grand Churchill Suite – he would paint the city scene below. Roosevelt came on Churchill's recommendation; Alfred Hitchcock filmed scenes for The Man Who Knew Too Much; Yves Saint-Laurent, Charlie Chaplin and Francis Ford Coppola holidayed here; so came The Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney where he composed the song “Mamunia”.

Zouac ceilings and mashrabiya windows blend harmoniously with more contemporary touches, creating a warm and relaxing feel. From the bed linen to the bathrobes and towels, from the softest of carpets to the most sumptuous of fabrics are found in each guest room. Decked out in marble and accented with zellige tilework, the bathrooms in the suites are fully equipped and feature both a shower and bathtub.
