Passport and Visa
US and Canadian citizens traveling to Morocco for tourism do not need a visa for stays under 90 days, but must hold a valid, undamaged passport with at least six months' validity beyond their planned exit date. One blank passport page is required for entry stamps. A return or onward ticket is required.
We recommend that you make photocopies of your passport. Be sure to leave one copy at home with family members and carry one copy in your purse and/or luggage. If your passport is lost or stolen, this will make the re-issuing of your passport much easier. We would also like you to scan your passport and upload it to your registration record or email a copy to the JLR Concierge at concierge@jlrprideandpinnacle.com. This will help expedite your check-in process when you arrive at the hotel.
Electricity
In Morocco, power plugs and sockets (outlets) of type C and type E are used. The standard voltage is 220 V at a frequency of 50 Hz.
Currency
The Moroccan dirham is the official currency of Morocco. Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted credit cards in Morocco, so it's best to bring one of those. American Express is also accepted at various locations, but Discover cards are less widely accepted.
Cellular Phone Service
US/Canadian cellular phones will work while in Morocco, but roaming fees will apply. Prior to arriving, contact your cell phone provider to add an international plan or ask what international rates will apply. We recommend downloading the complimentary app WhatsApp which allows guests to text and make calls with Wi-Fi or data.
Security
Morocco is considered generally safe for tourists, but petty crime is common in areas like the Medina. To stay safe, you can take normal precautions and be aware of your surroundings. We STRONGLY suggest that you leave all valuables, including expensive watches and jewelry, at home. There will be an in-room safe at both properties and you should keep your passport in the safe during your stay.
Tipping
Gratuities for all JLR-hosted events, including hotel, are included in the program. However, if you are traveling in Morocco on your own, the rule of thumb is 10%.
Languages
Morocco's official languages are Arabic and Berber (Tamazight), reflecting its rich cultural heritage. Moroccan Arabic (Darija) is the primary spoken language for daily communication, while French is widely used in business, government, and education as a major second language. All the hotel staff as well as our activity support team will speak English.
Weather
While we are in Morocco, guests can expect mild days, and chilly evenings. In Marrakesh we will have highs ranging from 68º to 72ºF with nights cooling down to the low 50’. Daytime weather while we are in the Atlas Mountain ranges from 54º to 64º F while nights can drop to around freezing, so warmer clothing is necessary here. Sunrise is around 8:01am and sunset is around 6:30pm.While we are in Morocco, guests can expect mild days, and chilly evenings. Time Zone
The time zone in Morrocco is on UTC +1 so while we are in Morocco, the time will be five (5) hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Savings time.
Attire
The attire for the program is Smart Casual with the exception of the JLR Award Dinner. We are suggesting Traditional Moroccan Chic and JLR will provide rental clothing for this evening unless you prefer to bring your own. It will be cold in the Atlas Mountains, so we recommend jackets, hats, and gloves for that portion of our trip. Click on attire examples on the agenda tab for additional clothing insight.
JLR Concierge
The JLR Concierge will be available to assist you on the trip each day at the hospitality desk from 7:00am - 7:00pm. Please ask them any questions regarding your itinerary or scheduled events.
